This time last year…. Stampin’ Up! Grand Vacation

I’m a super sentimental type and I’ve been very reflective in the last few days about where I was last year at this same time. A year ago today I was with my wonderful friend Angela, who took me with her as a guest on the Stampin’ Up! Grand Vacation to the USA. We took in the Stampin’ Up! US Convention and then had the most fantastic time at the stunning ski resort St Regis Deer Valley. We were SO spoilt by Stampin’ Up!

A highlight was visiting Stampin’ Up!s Home office and then the following day visiting the manufacturing facility in Kanab Utah to see how the Stampin’ Up! products are made. This was a very special treat as only a very few had ever had this experience before. carolynbennie.com

Before I tell you about the visit to Kanab I must show you where we stayed…. if you ever ever get to Utah, The Saint Regis Deer Valley is like Heaven on Earth. We stayed in the hight of summer but I can only imagine how different and beautiful it would also be in the snow in winter. 5 star living really suits me – its hard to not LOVE!! carolynbennie.com

Below is the entrance to the Stampin’ Up! manufacturing facility with all the staff welcoming us. It was a super early start to get there… and a chartered plane ride and a long bus trip. I was worried it would be worth it but it was beyond expectations. I think seeing how everything was made was such a special experience and the staff made us feel so welcome. Aren’t all the Stampin’ Up! buildings beautiful?

We arrived at lunch and of course they had the most beautiful bbq laid on for us. So much great food. The staff were amazing, generous, helpful and really excited for us to be there.

I must introduce you to Stamper Girl. I made Stamper Girl and her friend a while ago as a Convention roomy gift – and they both decided to tag along to see Kanab! Here she is at lunch. Seriously even the paper napkins are purdy! carolynbennie.com

The smell of hot off the press rubber. Wow. What a sight for a stamper to see. carolynbennie, com

These are the templates/moulds that the lay the flat rubber on before they go in the ovens.carolynbennie.com

Stamper Girl is just checking the oven is at the right setting…. . a stickler for detail.

This was such a surprise… this lady is mixing the dies to put into the foam pads. Hand mixing. Not a robot but a real human. carolynbennie.comStamper Girls is a super good listener.

Look at all those wooden blocks about to go into sets. ** squeal** All the stamp sets are packed by hand. Almost half of the residence of Kanab work in some aspect of Stampin’ Up! manufacturing. It’s really a community.

Stamper Girl does like to make friends… here she is with David Baugh (VP, Global Operations at Stampin’ Up!) – they got along great. ;) carolynbennie.com

Here the girls are saying hello to Pam Morgan (VP, Employee and Demonstrator Development at Stampin’ Up!). carolynbennie.com Oh card stock… how I love the.

And here it all is… the finished product ready for shipping off to you and me to love and play with. carolynbennie.com

It was a big day for Stamper Girl – who I might say had a ball!!carolynbennie.com

To top of such a special day we had the opportunity to visit the Kanab playground Stampin’ Up! has built for the community. Guess what’s under the play equipment? Yep, all of the rubber offcuts!

Such cherished memories and an amazing opportunity. Stampin’ Up! is the most amazing company and so are the friends you make while along the way.

Happy stamping everyone.

Bordering Blooms Video tutorial – Create a background pattern

So you might know I’m a bit of a night owl – my perfect life would be to stay up until 1 or 2am and sleep until 9am every day (blush). Well it’s school holidays at the moment and with Hubby up super early most mornings watching the World Cup and making the kids their breakfast, I’ve been able to stay up late, stamping and creating and then sleeeeeeep in. BLISS!!!  But the it’s all going to end really soon with the end of the World Cup and the holidays finishing up. *sigh* That is going to be a bitter pill to swallow…. if you see me with big bags under my eyes you know exactly why.

So while I’ve had all that creative energy I’ve put together another video tutorial on how to create a patterned background with the new Stampin’ Up! Photopolymer Border Stamps. These stamps are so fantastic and I know you’re going to love them as much as I do.

This card is made with the stamp set called Bordering Blooms. Really lovely crisp and elegant lines. Great for any occasion.

Bordering Blooms- Creating a Background

Stamping Tip: I’ve made the little flag with a tooth pick – the perfect size for a card and flags are totally on-trend.

I adore Stampin’ Up! Photopolymer stamps. They just tick so many boxes. Photopolymer makes:

  • perfect and accurate positioning so simple – they’re clear and you can see exactly where to put them,
  • adhering to the acrylic blocks are a dream – they’re super sticky
  • cleaning your stamps is easy – clean as you would normally and wash with soapy water if they get really inky. Yes they stay sticky after washing!
  • storage is simple – keep out of direct sunlight
  • stamped images are crisp and perfect

Border stamps are just perfect for making backgrounds. Here I’ve used the Draw the line   border stamp to make this circle background for this framed piece – perfect for home decor.

This curly flower is really sweet and a bit different. There is an excellent tutorial here on how to make them: http://dollarstorecrafts.com/2014/03/make-curly-paper-flowers/

It’s here! The new annual Stampin’ Up! catalogue live today!!

Stampin' Up! annual Catalogue 2014

The new Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalogue is just beautiful.  So many fun new products and beautiful stamps….. I have so many projects rolling around my head I just don’t know if a year is going to be long enough!!!

I love to colour. LOVE IT! So when I found out Stampin’ Up! was releasing a new line of alcohol based markers I was beyond excited. Blendabilities are fun and give super results. You’re going to love them like me I just know it. Have a look at this:

A product line I’m a bit worried about to be honest is Project Life. Why am I worried? Because I fear I might like it even more then card making!!!! GASP!!!!! It ties in a few of my loves – photos of my kids and my family, recording special moments like the art work they do and the certificates the receive and my words or journaling so they have a record of what I thought and felt. A record of their childhood. But MOST importantly it is SOOOOOO QUICK and easy. Combined with the beautiful products, colour co-ordination and creativity of Stampin’ Up!  - I’m SOLD!!!! Check this out:

Bordering Blooms & Chalk Lines – Photopolymer Border Stamps

As promised, here is the first card sample from my recent display of New Border Stamps at South Pacific’s Stampin’ Up! Convention 2014.  I’ve used 3 of the new In-Colors: Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss and my personal favourite Lost Lagoon.Border Stamps - carolynbennie.com I just love love the boarder stamps from the new 2014/15 Annual Catalogue – and Bordering Blooms & Chalk Lines are so versitile and purdy. The exciting thing about these stamps is they’re photopolymer!! They are completely clear and super sticky. You’ll love Stampin’ Up! Photopolymer stamps. They are perfect in every way. They stick to the acrylic block like nothing else and being totally clear, you can see exactly where you’re stamping so positioning is easy peasy. I’m a total convert and you’ll see me using them a LOT.

I wanted this card to have an Indian/Bohemian feel and to achieve this I’ve heat embossed with gold embossing powder on the Blackberry Bliss card stock and co-ordinated it with lush and rich colours and lots of sponging. I mounted the card front on a Soft Suede card because if you know me you’ll know I’m a BIG fan of brown. All shades and variations of brown. Perhaps because I was born in the 1970′s? ;)

After piercing with my paper piercer (a favourite tool of mine that is super cheap and always at close reach on my stamping table), I’ve hand sewn with Linen thread finishing off with a bow and a button.

All of these new In-Colors and stamp sets will be available to order from me as of 1st of July (just next week) from my online store or by calling me on 0401857748 or emailing carolynbennieink@gmail.com . Please let me know if you have any questions about the products I’ve used here today.

There are only a very few days left of the current Annual Catalogue – order any retiring stamps and accessories NOW here.

If you’ve been thinking of joining Stampin’ Up! and my Team the Midnight Inklings for the amazing $85 joining special you have only a 4 days left to do so. Contact me on 0401857748 or emailing carolynbennieink@gmail.com for more information or head to here to join right now online and start ordering your own products at 20% off straight away.

Enjoy your day & happy stamping.
