Need a super cute gift box? …. AND it’s Wednesday Deal day :)

My feet have not stopped running the last few weeks preparing for the Sewing, Stitching and Hand Craft Fair held here in Adelaide (see photos below). Preparing lots and lots of samples of new Stampin’ Up! products – its a hard life hey? Having to play with Stampin’ Up! goodies for a living is the best job ever.

I got to play with Stampin’ Up!’s new Blendabilities and the fab single stamp called Blended Blooms. I’m having so much fun colouring but you my friends know that colouring is my happy place…. and seriously that Hamburger Die is F.U.N.

Blended blooms Hamburger Box - carolynbennie.comI’m still have my ‘learner’ hat on for the Blendabilities but it’s good fun practising. I can also see the leaf image from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set is going to get lots of use.

Bordering Blooms Video tutorial – Create a background pattern

So you might know I’m a bit of a night owl – my perfect life would be to stay up until 1 or 2am and sleep until 9am every day (blush). Well it’s school holidays at the moment and with Hubby up super early most mornings watching the World Cup and making the kids their breakfast, I’ve been able to stay up late, stamping and creating and then sleeeeeeep in. BLISS!!!  But the it’s all going to end really soon with the end of the World Cup and the holidays finishing up. *sigh* That is going to be a bitter pill to swallow…. if you see me with big bags under my eyes you know exactly why.

So while I’ve had all that creative energy I’ve put together another video tutorial on how to create a patterned background with the new Stampin’ Up! Photopolymer Border Stamps. These stamps are so fantastic and I know you’re going to love them as much as I do.

This card is made with the stamp set called Bordering Blooms. Really lovely crisp and elegant lines. Great for any occasion.

Bordering Blooms- Creating a Background

Stamping Tip: I’ve made the little flag with a tooth pick – the perfect size for a card and flags are totally on-trend.

I adore Stampin’ Up! Photopolymer stamps. They just tick so many boxes. Photopolymer makes:

  • perfect and accurate positioning so simple – they’re clear and you can see exactly where to put them,
  • adhering to the acrylic blocks are a dream – they’re super sticky
  • cleaning your stamps is easy – clean as you would normally and wash with soapy water if they get really inky. Yes they stay sticky after washing!
  • storage is simple – keep out of direct sunlight
  • stamped images are crisp and perfect

Border stamps are just perfect for making backgrounds. Here I’ve used the Draw the line   border stamp to make this circle background for this framed piece – perfect for home decor.

It’s here! The new annual Stampin’ Up! catalogue live today!!

Stampin' Up! annual Catalogue 2014

The new Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalogue is just beautiful.  So many fun new products and beautiful stamps….. I have so many projects rolling around my head I just don’t know if a year is going to be long enough!!!

I love to colour. LOVE IT! So when I found out Stampin’ Up! was releasing a new line of alcohol based markers I was beyond excited. Blendabilities are fun and give super results. You’re going to love them like me I just know it. Have a look at this:

A product line I’m a bit worried about to be honest is Project Life. Why am I worried? Because I fear I might like it even more then card making!!!! GASP!!!!! It ties in a few of my loves – photos of my kids and my family, recording special moments like the art work they do and the certificates the receive and my words or journaling so they have a record of what I thought and felt. A record of their childhood. But MOST importantly it is SOOOOOO QUICK and easy. Combined with the beautiful products, colour co-ordination and creativity of Stampin’ Up!  - I’m SOLD!!!! Check this out:

Bordering Blooms & Chalk Lines – Photopolymer Border Stamps

As promised, here is the first card sample from my recent display of New Border Stamps at South Pacific’s Stampin’ Up! Convention 2014.  I’ve used 3 of the new In-Colors: Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss and my personal favourite Lost Lagoon.Border Stamps - carolynbennie.com I just love love the boarder stamps from the new 2014/15 Annual Catalogue – and Bordering Blooms & Chalk Lines are so versitile and purdy. The exciting thing about these stamps is they’re photopolymer!! They are completely clear and super sticky. You’ll love Stampin’ Up! Photopolymer stamps. They are perfect in every way. They stick to the acrylic block like nothing else and being totally clear, you can see exactly where you’re stamping so positioning is easy peasy. I’m a total convert and you’ll see me using them a LOT.

I wanted this card to have an Indian/Bohemian feel and to achieve this I’ve heat embossed with gold embossing powder on the Blackberry Bliss card stock and co-ordinated it with lush and rich colours and lots of sponging. I mounted the card front on a Soft Suede card because if you know me you’ll know I’m a BIG fan of brown. All shades and variations of brown. Perhaps because I was born in the 1970′s? ;)

After piercing with my paper piercer (a favourite tool of mine that is super cheap and always at close reach on my stamping table), I’ve hand sewn with Linen thread finishing off with a bow and a button.

All of these new In-Colors and stamp sets will be available to order from me as of 1st of July (just next week) from my online store or by calling me on 0401857748 or emailing carolynbennieink@gmail.com . Please let me know if you have any questions about the products I’ve used here today.

There are only a very few days left of the current Annual Catalogue – order any retiring stamps and accessories NOW here.

If you’ve been thinking of joining Stampin’ Up! and my Team the Midnight Inklings for the amazing $85 joining special you have only a 4 days left to do so. Say Goodbye to ‘So Very Grateful’

I’ve loved the stamp set So very Grateful. I’ll be super sad to see it retire at the 30th of this month when Stampin’ Up!’s Occasion Catalogue ends. What’s more the Little Leaves Sizzlits die is also on the retirement list. *gasp* This was one of the very first Big Shot accessories I ever bought and it’s had SO much use.

I found these little milk bottles at our local discount shop and I think they are super cute for a gift. Perhaps a teachers, neighbours or workmates gift? I’ve added the sweet roses using the Spiral Flower Originals Die and some Burlap Ribbon.

My new Stamping Studio – my dream craft room

For the last 4 years I’ve been having Stampin’ Up! Classes here in the Adelaide Hills from my dinning room table in our open plan kitchen family room, while it’s been great it can be a juggle running classes in a busy family space. I’ve also had a little dream…… to have my very own craft room which is big enough to hold my classes in. My very own spot that is welcoming and fun for my classes. It’s taken a lot of plotting, organisation and planning but finally I have it. My Stamping Studio!

My Studio room has had a few names/uses in just the 14 years we’ve owned our 90 year old workman’s cottage. Originally it was our dinning room and then our lounge room (while we renovated and extended), then for the past 6 years it’s been play room for our 3 boys. The play room has been wonderful however being a walk through room the ‘mess’ factor has been a constant issue for the grown ups in the house.

Making the decision to move my craft table out of the spare bedroom (and put the toy room into the spare bedroom) was a great idea. Especially now that my boys are almost all at school. It’s also been an unexpected pleasure to have reclaimed some adult space to our house that has been totally taken over by children for the last decade. Hubby and I own the house right??!! I’d totally forgotten that. Plus I can now close the toy room door and hide away all that toy mess. :)

I hope you enjoy this tour of my new Stamping Studio. Please ask me any questions you like in the comments section. I love to chat.

This massive beautiful white table is from Ikea and called the Norden. I actually snaffled it second hand from a Gumtree listing last week and I couldn’t believe my luck to get it half the new price and in perfect condition. This is in the 8 person configuration but I can extend it another 46cm to seat another 2 class attendees if required.

Because the table, desk and even the paint in the room is a neutral white and cream colours I NEEDED some Carolyn colour. I took my inspiration from the colours I already love in my home, Cherry Cobbler red, Sage Green, Midnight Muse blue – then I added a new love Daffodil Delight yellow. I’m a bit of a primary colour girl hehehe. So the stools and chairs had to be colourful ones and again Ikea to the rescue.

Carolyn's Stamping Studio - carolynbennie.com

After moving the toys out I had the fun of moving all the craft stuff in. My desk is not too changed from it’s configuration previously and I’ll do a post in the future on the storage and organisation of my tools, papers etc. I did have to shed a lot of ‘stuff’ – having had my craft room in the spare bedroom meant I could hoard a lot of junk which I’ve promised myself not to do again.

My Stampin’ Up! Punches are displayed and in handy reach on kitchen rails from Ikea which are fixed to one of our old doors from the house prior to it being renovated. My Dad made this door and although it didn’t fit into the newly renovated family room, I love that I’ve been able to repurpose it in my new favourite room of the house. This is also the same of my desk – one of Dad’s handy work.

Carolyn's Stamping Studio - carolynbennie.com

I found the perfect space for this fantastic banner from the last Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration and was able to display some of my favourite moments from my trip to the US last year and our tour of Stampin’ Up! Home Office and Kenab Manufacturing Facility (where Stampin’ Up! make their stamps – Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Heaven)

Carolyn's Stamping Studio - carolynbennie.com

I needed some extra storage space for my business needs, so this 8 cube Ikea Expedits storage unit was perfect. I wanted a pop of colour so the yellow stationary storage boxes really did the trick. I have my photo box on the top so I can take photos of my handmade cards day and night- one of the best purchases I’ve ever made – see my previous post about this light box here. The ‘Love what you live’ is a birthday gift from my 2 dear friends Lynne & Nat long time members of my Stampin’ Up! team the Midnight Inklings. It really resinates with me on so many levels. *love* it.

Carolyn's Stamping Studio - carolynbennie.com

The fireplace still works but I’m not sure that I’ll have it going during classes as it would be a bit of work – and I’m usually distracted with my ladies. But it’s a lovely original feature of the room. The mantle also is a great spot to display some of my favourite things. The butterflies are all of the current Stampin’ Up! colour families.

Carolyn's Stamping Studio - carolynbennie.com After cleaning out years of junk – I mean treasures (lol)I even found this old drawing I did in high school and thought it should get a viewing. The wooden cotton reels are an op-shop find that I’ve been searching for a home for. And look at that – in exactly the colours of my new studio.

Carolyn's Stamping Studio - carolynbennie.com

This cupboard is nothing special.. in fact it was a save our neighbour was going to through out. But I loved the dirty green and once I took off the broken sliding doors at the top I found it so useful for display and storage.

Carolyn's Stamping Studio - carolynbennie.com

The coat rack is perfect for the ladies handbags and coats. The spinning craft tins from Howards’ Storage World have all the adhesives and scissors for classes at easy reach.

Carolyn's Stamping Studio - carolynbennie.com

This photo just explains how I feel about my space. Calm and happy. Of course I think it’s just the calm before the storm with my classes resuming next week (see class details and book) and I’m expecting to see my beautiful and crazy stamping friends ready to have fun and messy up my Studio. If you live in Adelaide or the Adelaide Hills in South Australia contact me today on 0401 857748 or carolynbennieink@gmail.com and reserve a seat for you and a friend for my stamping classes. Here is the current list of upcoming classes.
