Do I look different? If you could see me right now you’d see I look WAY different. The reason???? I think I’m walking a little taller and smiling a LOT more.
Why I hear you ask??? Well that’s because I’ve been selected a brand new Addicted to CAS Design Team member!!! Wooooohooooooo!!!!!
So what does that mean Carolyn?? It means that every couple of weeks I’ll be joining a bunch of talented carmakers from across the world to create Clean and Simple (CAS) cards using a special code word to inspire our designs.
We even have awesome guest designers to add to bump up that creativity to another level! This week our guest designer is Elizabeth Stewart.
So here is my very first card using the code word ‘CAKE‘ to inspire. I hope you like it. Play along by checking out the Addicted to CAS blog challenge HERE.
I’ve used the BRAND NEW stamp set called Party Wishes from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalogue which actually launched this week!
This stamp set is fun and works great for this very feminine card but would also work just as well for a kids or masculine card just by swapping out a few elements and stamped images in the set.
I’ve stamped the ‘A party without cake is just a meeting’ stamp in Versa Mark and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. Then I’ve stamped over the top in Pink Pirouette ink with the ‘cake’ stamp. Just to add a little more depth of colour, I’ve masked off the edges of the cake with sticky notes and sponge daubered in Rose Red and then Blushing Bride to create an ombre colour effect.
I’ve cut out the cake by hand and my trusty Paper Snips and then punched out the most darling Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper candle. Adorable.
I’ve used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the cake to the die cut round Whisper White circle.
A super easy and fun effect for a clean and simple card is to cut full length strips of card stock in graduating colours and adhere them next to each other. I’ve started with Pink Pirouette, then Blushing Bride, Rose Read and finishing with Cherry Cobbler. All on a base card of Crumb Cake (my all-time favourite colour).
