Video tutorial – Beetles & Bugs

I always wanted to make birthdays really special for my kids. It’s been one of my parenting traditions I wanted to do.

I’m not talking about big parties or expensive gifts, I’m talking about me taking the time to make the little things special about their birthdays. Cakes, cards and letting them choose what I make them for dinner that night.

Of course this has taken on a bit of a life of it’s own with now 3 kids and in truth. I’m up to all hours of the night making crazy themed birthday cakes and co-ordinating handmade cards the night prior to their birthday. But I hope my boys look back on their childhoods and have really wonderful memories of waking up on their birthday morning and rushing down to the kitchen to see what surprise cake and card mum’s made this year.

My little baby turned 7 recently and I had the perfect card in mind and this helped me pick the perfect cake for him as well. The Beetles & Bugs stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalogue just screams 7 year old boy to me.

I actually think it’s such a fun stamp set for including a few bugs on your envelopes as well. Imagine how fun it would be to see a really pretty bug on an envelope you received.

I also made a Beetles & Bug cake too! Read to the bottom of this post to see that as well. 😉

I completed a full video tutorial about this card on my recent Facebook Live Friday video. (Make sure you go Follow me now on Facebook so you can see the next live video). Have a look to see how easy you can make this card yourself in my tutorial.

Now please be warned.. there is a LOT of chocolate in this cake. Lucky my 7 year old had a big bunch of friends to share it with. They all took home a few ‘bugs’ as well.

Remember folks Sale-A-Bration only lasts until the end of this month! You get to choose a free stamp set (or other item) from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue with any order of $90 of Stampin’ Up! products. Read all about it HERE.
