Best Birds in Watercolour Pencils

Today was one of those days I felt ridiculously guilty about this Stampin’ Up! business of mine. I mean – is it right to be having this much fun making handmade cards and calling it ‘work’??

The answer is – You bet! Crafting up a storm to make fun sample cards it a huge part of my Stampin’ Up! Demonstratorship… and a super fun part.  I love what I do.

Today I’m playing along with the awesome blog challenge website called the Global Design Project. They have a different weekly challenge each week but this week we’re casing the work of the delightful Louise Sharp.

This is Louise’s card that we’ve used to inspire our creations. Isn’t it stunning?

I was itching to colour today, so I’ve pulled out my Stampin’ Up! Watercolor pencils and my Best Birds stamp set. Colouring is my bliss… pure meditation and happiness.

I also love birds and this set was one for the first on my list when the Annual Catalogue was released last year.

I’ve used Shimmery White cardstock to stamp and colour in the bird with and the beautiful Woodland Embossing Folder, lightly sponged with White Craft Ink, onto the very bold Pumpkin Pie cardstock. The co-ordinating Birds & Blooms Thinlits Dies make die cutting out the birds and branch a piece of cake.

I’ve also continued the fun by stamping on the envelope and inside of the card as well. I’ll be sharing more ideas on ‘dressing up your envelopes’ in my ‘No Nude Envelopes’ post later this week.

Remember we have just a few days left of this year’s Sale-A-Bration.. Stampin’ Up!’s wonderful gift with purchase sale with a wild Joining Stampin’ Up! special too. Read all about it HERE

Below are all the tools and supplies I’ve used in making this card. You can purchase them from my Australian Stampin’ Up! Online Shop HERE .

Thanks so much for popping by my blog. I hope you like my card.

Call to action!

  1. Have you ever make a card using Orange (Pumpkin Pie)? Would you try it now?
  2. Do you love birds like me or don’t like them at all??

Love to hear from you in the comments. 🙂

  1. Amazing card Carolyn. Love all your layers and your colouring is perfect. A lovely take on Louise’s card. Thank you so much for playing along with this week’s Global Design Project challenge! Make sure you pin your project to the official Global Design Team Pinterest board.

  2. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! This card is so stunning Carolyn. I’m so thrilled you played along this week and CASE’d my card. No, not a huge fan of Pumpkin Pie…however I have paired it with Melon Mambo before and was happy! The colour combo with the Bermuda Bay is gorgeous, as is your colouring! Your card looks a little oriental to me and I do have a soft spot for all oriental things. As for birds, yes…the nice ones are lovely….I could shoot the darn magpies that swoop me on the way to the coffee shop though! xo
