The first thing I do when I get my hands on a new Stampin’ Up! catalogue is to flick through and find all the new stamp sets that are going to be great to colour. Stampin’ Up!’s Garden Girl is the perfect stamp set for those who LOVE to colour like me. This set went on my very first order this month and I’m sure you’ll love it too.

I’ve kind of gone to town on the amount of colouring I’ve done here. I so love to play with my Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils. You really don’t need to get this detailed but I have to admit, I had way too much fun with this and it made the time quickly slip away while I was being ‘parent monitor’  in the change rooms at my boys theatre performance on Sunday.

That’s the beauty of Watercolour Pencils – you can take them anywhere with you. They’re not messy and they can slip into your bag along with a sheet of pre-stamped images. 😉

Here are the Pencil Colours used on this card:

  • Pumpkin Pie,
  • Basic Grey,
  • Whisper White,
  • Early Espresso and a tiny bit of
  • Old Olive Watercolour Pencils here.

Colouring Tip: I’ve directly coloured onto Stampin’ Up! Watercolour Paper using my Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils and I’ve used lots of the Basic Grey to add depth into the shading and the Whisper White to burnishing* with.

*Burnishing involves layering and blending until no paper tooth shows through the coloured pencil layers. So you’re basically using the White to push down the watercolour paper’s bumps.

I’ve not applied any water or blender pens here – so it’s really just simple colouring, starting off light and adding laters.

  • Carefully, I’ve cut-out the stamped & coloured images with my Stampin’ Up! Paper Snips.
  • I then stamped and cut-out 2 further images of the girl and bunny in Basic Black Cardstock.
  • Using Mini-Glue Dot’s I’ve adhered the black cut-outs on to the back of the girl and bunny to give these ‘living’ images a 3d effect on my finished card.

Find this later – Make sure you Pin these images to your Pinterest Boards to you can refer to them later. Stampin' Up! - Garden Girl. Card created by Carolyn Bennie - Australian Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator /
