Greetings from Santa – ADTCAS Blog Challenge

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

Today the Bennie Boys (Hubby & 3 boys) are off to the Adelaide Credit Union Christmas Pageant. I’m so excited!! It’s actually the first one that we’ve all been to as a family and I thought with my oldest son being 12 it was really important we went this time.

So wish me luck!! We’re leaving early and hoping the weather holds. I know some people arrive super early to get the perfect spot but seriously I can’t see that happening with us. I’m not a great morning person and why you’ll find me up past midnight writing this post so it goes out on time. Not to mention getting the boys out early is like herding cats in the morning.

Lets talk Christmas cards.

The definition of ombre is the French word for colour that is shaded or graduated in tone.

I’ve got my Design Team hat on for the Addicted to CAS blog challenge site (click HERE to visit and add your contribution). We’re playing with the Code Word Ombre today. Have a look what I’ve created.

How did I make this card?

I’ve put this card together using Real Red and Cherry Cobbler 2cms x 10cms strips of card stock. To create the additional shades I’ve used VersaMark one piece of the Real Red and one of the Cherry Cobbler. I’ve also dabbed the Real Red inkpad direct to Real Red piece of card stock and also Cherry Cobbler Ink direct to the Cherry Cobbler card stock. All together I’ve created 6 different shades of red.

The Detailed Santa Thinlits Die Santa is super fun and easy to use. I’ve cut out one of the Santa squares with my Big Shot and Precision Plate in Whisper White and carefully used the Fine Tipped Glue Pen on the back to layer it over my Ombre Red strips.

I’ve then used the Merry Christmas stamp from the set and stamped in VersaMark and White Embossing Powder and heated up with my Heat Tool.

If you’re looking for more inspiration make sure you swing past our Guest Designer: Vicki Dutcher‘s blog to see her take on Ombre. It’s super fun.. and a coffee mug. Hmmmm…. coffee.

Please don’t you forget – there is a fantastic Stampin’ Up! Special this month.

I can’t BELIEVE I forgot to order my Stitched Framelits on the first day and so I had to put in a second order the following day. I’m just champing at the bit to get my hands on those Framelits.. not to mention discounted co-ordinated stamp sets! I’ll be making up some samples ASAP – promise.
