Today I’m playing along with the Addicted to CAS blog challenge group again. This weeks CODE word was Monster!!
What a cute challenge right? Lots of countries are celebrating Halloween tomorrow and although it’s not a huge tradition in Australia it’s such a fun challenge word to play with.
Make sure you swing by the Addicted to CAS Guest Designer Mandy Ashley’s blog this week. She’s done a wonderful card for the Monster theme.
I wanted to make a card that moved as well as a monster card, so I got out the Sliding Star Framelits and co-ordinating Shooting Star stamp set to make this perfectly Monstrous slider card.
I had a bit of fun putting this card together… I’ve actually used the new Stampin’ Up! Fox Builder Punch to make the Monsters. Did you pick it? Of course I couldn’t help dive into my stash of googly eyes. Googly eyes always make me happy.
You know I was only thinking about googly eyes the other day and how they’ve always made me happy. My strongest memory is when I was little – about 12 and I’d stuck them all around my bedroom with blu-tak. My Grandma came to stay with us in the last days of her life when she was very ill with cancer and stayed in my bedroom. I remember it was a really hard time for my family, especially my beautiful mum to see her mum so sick. Well, I’d forgotten all about the googly eyes and hadn’t taken them down before she arrived. Grandma said to me she thought they were wonderful and it made her smile. It’s nice to have a happy memory of that sad time and perhaps that’s why I like googly eyes so much, even still.
Hints and tips:
I stamped the Earth stamp and sentiment in VersaMark and then covered in White Embossing Powder and heat set with my trusty heat gun.
Have you wondered how I painted to black cardstock?
I mixed a few drops of White Craft Ink re-inker with a few drops of Gumball Green re-inker and the I did the same with Island Indigo onto some tin foil. I then used a dry Aquapainter brush to paint the Earth image with the Craft White/Coloured ink mixture.
