Australian Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator – Carolyn Bennie
Hey Peeps! Happy Saturday to you.
I’m back today with my card for the Addicted to CAS design team.
I’d like to be telling you I’ve had this card designed and photographed weeks ago…. but I have to say that it’s just got done last night in time to be photographed today and blogged only a few hours before it’s due. I’m flying by the seat of my pants just now.
Life is busy at the best of times but right now I’m preparing to go to Sydney for Stampin’ Up!’s Demonstrator event called Onstage Local where I’m presenting and working as part of the team. It’s going to be so exciting – especially seeing so many of my other demonstrator friends from all across Australia. Truly one of the perks of being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is the friendships you make along the way. But man, am I ever burning that candle at both ends! Looking forward to a good dose of Netflix and chocolate on the couch tonight.
But now lets get into the fab Addicted to CAS challenge… this week its:
I’ve had a play (for the first time – ops!!) with my Rose Garden Thinlits Dies to make this inlayed die card. What is the inlayed technique? We’ll it’s where you cut out a few different coloured pieces of card stock and reassemble them, much like a jigsaw puzzle using different colours. It’s a lovely technique really – one that I’m now inspired to play with a bit more.
How did she do it?
For my rose I’ve taken watercolour paper and washed it over completely with plain water with an Aqua-painter. I’ve then picked up a little ink – Pink Pirouette and Rose Red with my Aqua painter again and washed the water paper over again. I like the hard edges when the colour dries quickly, so I’ve taken my Heat Gun to dry the watercolour paper fast.
You should really give this a try. Next time I’d be a little bit more careful with my 2-Way Glue as I got a few spot of it on the Crumb Cake Rose outline as I was sticking it down. Perhaps I really shouldn’t have been watching Downton Abby at the same time as crafting! Lol.
