Lots of sweet things happening here at home today.
My middle son Macauley is baking gingerbread men (baking is his new hobby – the sugar content of my diet is going up massively) and my other Sweet Men are helping me put up the Christmas Tree…. and I’ll be partaking in a ‘sweet wine’ after we finish the tree, as tree decorating with kids is hard for a perfectionist. *blush*
So with that in mind, it’s the perfect day for the Addicted to CAS Design Team to be unveiling our code word for this fortnight – Sweets!
I sure had F.U.N. with this Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Sweet Cupcake and the coordinating dies called Cupcake Cutouts. It’s a 3 step stamp, which means you layer up 3 different stamps with 3 progressively darker colours to give real depth to the final result.
The trick is to find good colour combinations to go together with your layering. Don’t go too dark with your 3 colours as it can end up looking a bit like a photograph negative (remember those?).
Here I’ve used Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo and Calypso Coral for the icing and Wild Wasabi for the pattypan.
I die cut the ‘sweet’ saying from the Cupcake Cutouts Framelits 3 times in Calypso Coral cardstock. I then adhered the 3 together buy putting some Multi-Purpose Glue on a sponge and then sponging each layer of die cut before lining them up and sticking them together.
After I’d adhered the Sweet die-cuts together, I dabbed some Versamark onto the top half of the words and then covered in Silver Embossing Powder. Heat setting with my Heat Gun.
I’m happy with how that turned out – silver prettiness.
